Anuja Kapur Raises Her Voice against Acid Attack Victims
August 08, 2014: Violence against women and girls is a problem of pandemic proportions. At least one out of every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime with the abuser usually someone known to her. Violence against women can be in any form like Rape, harassment, eve teasing, physical violence, dowry, child marriage, acid attacks these are the crimes which women are facing in both public and private spheres of life in any period of their life. Women face these violence even at work places where boss, colleagues, exploit their fellow female colleagues.
To prevent these heinous crimes and work for the victims of these attacks famous psychologist and socialist Mrs. Anuja Kapur who is constantly working for the betterment of the situation of the women and specially for acid attack victims is coming up with her own NGO “NIRBHIYA EK SHAKTI” by which she will continue her good work towards the victims of these attacks specially for acid attack victims. Mrs. Kapur further added that she is going to help as many people as she can and want to diminish these crimes from not only this country but from the world too.
In India women are facing these crimes in almost every part of the country. In recent times the numbers of incidents related to Acid attacks have increased in our country as well as South East of the world especially in Cambodia. The most common types of acid used in these attacks are sulphuric, nitric, or hydrochloric acid. Perpetrators of these attacks throw acid at their victims, usually at their faces, burning them, and damaging skin tissue, often exposing and sometimes dissolving the bones. Attackers throw acid on victims “with the intention of injuring or disfiguring them out of jealousy or revenge”.
About Mrs. Anuja Kapur
Anuja Kapur is the famous criminal psychologist. She is a Delhi University Graduate and did her bachelor’s in psychology after that she joined Delhi Public School as a student counsellor. Later on she got into the Criminal Psychology and did her Masters in same stream. The zeal to learn more led her into another course in Forensic Science from Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Science and University of Delhi under the guidance of Dr. Surinder Nath.
After having decades of experience in psychology Mrs Anuja Kapur decided to raise her voice for victims of rape, eve teasing, violence and acid attacks, so for that she got an International Diploma in Victimology from, The Tokiawa International Victimlogy Institute, Japan.
